This year in Vihti is filled with happenings, as familiar traditions and newly introduced events continue!
Our calendar already features countless events – even completely new ones – and more will be added throughout the year. Below, you will find a review of just some of the events that await you in Vihti in 2023.
Opening of the Museum of Vihti
Founded in 1988, the museum of Vihti has moved from its long-standing home on Kirkkoniementie to Kyläaukio in the center of the old church village. The museum will settle in a magnificent Jugend building, which was built as the first town hall of Vihti by volunteers in 1911.
The original purpose of the building was to provide local residents a place to gather, and that is what it will once again become. The permanent exhibition explores how Vihti became the place it is today through the stories of local people.

Nummela Day
This year, we are celebrating Nummela Day for the first time! Nummelan Kilta, Vihdin Nuorkauppakamari, and local entrepreneurs and brick and mortar stores are joining forces with the municipality to organize a lively summer season opener on Saturday May 27, from 10:00 to 19:00!
The event invites people of all ages from Vihti and neighboring regions to enjoy the versatile programme. The area around the Linnaportti bus station hosts the events earlier in the day, while the focus shifts to the Veikko Helle market square in the afternoon.
More information on Nummela Day will be available in the spring on theFacebook page of Nummela Day.
Hiidenkirnu Festival
Another new event for last year was Hiidenkirnu Festival! Eppu Normaali, Suvi Teräsniska, and Blind Channel were among the bands and artists that rocked Nummenharju last July. This year, our stage welcomes Anssi Kela, JVG, Alphaville, Teflon Brothers, Klamydia, and many others!
“Hiidenkirnu Festival was organized for the first time last year, and the reception was extremely positive. This summer, we will be raising the game even further in terms of the arrangements and the artists performing at the festival. Both the organizers and the audience were happy with the Hiidenkirnu stadium as a venue. We want to make the festival into an annual tradition”, says Henri Kulmala, executive producer of the festival. Hiidenkirnu Festival takes place July 14–15

Pahantorjuja Film Festival
Organized for the first time last year, Pahantorjuja, the festival for good films and films that make you feel good, will return this year!
August 4–5. The old church village of Vihti welcomes film buffs. The festival programme offers films, actor and director guests, good food and beverages, fantastic additional programming, and that famous village atmosphere!
The film festival was created by the local film club Pahantorjuja ry, which was established in 2022. The name of the club and the festival comes from an old stone that was found on the bank of Vanjoki River in Jokikunta, Vihti. Into the stone was carved a symbol that was called pahantorjuja, as it was thought to ward off evil spirits.

Wuosisatamarkkinat Market Day
This year, Wuosisatamarkkinat will take place in Vihti for the 16th time on August 26. Traditional market stalls offering various products are dotted along the idyllic Niuhalanraitti, while the surrounding area also features stands hosted by local organizations, associations, and businesses, for example.
SuurVihdin Kilta, which organizes the event, reports that the arrangements are already off to a good start. Stalls will become available for bookings in March, and the programme will be confirmed during the spring. 170 sellers and 10 000 visitors are expected to the market day. SuurVihdin Kilta is already looking forward to the market day excitedly!
This year, SuurVihdin Kilta is also organizing the midsummer celebration in the old church village, to which 3 000 visitors are expected. The audience can look forward to fun activities for the whole family, and the night will be capped off with dancing accompanied by Lassi Viljanen. There will also be a traditional Midsummer bonfire if the weather permits.

The magical night of street art, lights, and alternative pop is once again filled with big names for an exhilarating and unforgettable experience! Nummela Art Night on October 7 also marks the opening of ValotON, a season of events for the darker period of the year.
